After a rare night off for the NBA on Monday (due to the NCAA championship game), the league is back up and running on Tuesday with a full slate. We’ve only got a handful of games to go now until playoff time. Here are my NBA picks for April 9th. Go here for the latest NBA odds

NBA Picks April 9th
Dallas Mavericks vs. Charlotte Hornets
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Spread: Mavericks -9.5
Total: 219.5
Things are falling into place for the Dallas Mavericks just in time for the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Charlotte Hornets continue to be the Charlotte Hornets. But I don’t think I want to lay 9.5 points on this game.
So I’m going with the total instead. The Hornets are one of the lowest-scoring teams in the NBA, however lately they’ve started lighting up the scoreboard. This includes a 124-point performance against one of the league’s top defenses – the Orlando Magic. And Dallas scored 147 points in their last game. Over 219.5 points it is then.
Best Bet: Mavericks/Hornets Over 219.5 (-111)
Orlando Magic vs. Houston Rockets
Tipoff – 8:00 pm EST
Spread: Magic -1.5
Total: 211
After their improbable run after losing Alperen Sengun (and Tari Eason) to injury, the bottom has fallen out on the Houston Rockets. Five straight losses have Houston out of the playoffs once again this season.
So I’m liking getting Orlando at -1.5 as they visit the sinking Rockets on Tuesday night. The Magic have won four of their last five and actually have something to play for, as playoff seeding is still up for grabs. I’m also linking the over – this game gets into the 220s by my estimation.
Best Bet: Magic -1.5 (-114); Magic/Rockets Over 211 (-111)
