NBA First FG Props – April 7
Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Los Angeles Clippers
Tipoff – 3:30 pm EST
crypto.com Arena – Los Angeles, California
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
For the second straight game, the Cavaliers will step into the crypto.com Arena as the visiting team. On Saturday, Jarrett Allen uncharacteristically lost the tip to Anthony Davis. That dropped his tip win percentage under 75.0% – which is still good enough for second in the NBA. He doesn’t usually lose two in a row, and I’ll be shocked in Ivica Zubac is the one to do it to him. Zubac has won just 29.2% of the tips over the year.
The first bucket success rate isn’t going to help the Clippers any here. They are 29th in the league with a 39.0% win rate. The Cavaliers are 6th in the NBA and have a 16.1% lead over them in this category.
Last time out, I look Jarrett Allen because he had been taking a lot of early shots. He took none of the early ones on Saturday – but I think that’ll be an outlier. I’ll ride again with Allen with some hopes he gets back to what he was doing earlier in the week.
First FG Bet for April 7: Jarrett Allen (TBD)
Utah Jazz vs. Golden State Warriors
Tipoff – 8:30 pm EST
Chase Center – San Francisco, California
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
If the Clippers are a team to fade on the early bucket this year, then the Jazz certainly are as well. They’re the only team in the league with a worse first bucket success rate. Their 32.5% puts them dead last in the league. They also may be missing both of their tip guys – Walker Kessler and John Collins are both questionable. It wouldn’t matter who they were playing, I’d be on the opposite side.
There are a lot of moving pieces for the Warriors at this stage in the season. However, one thing I’m seeing is a willingness early for Draymond Green to jack some things up. Contested or not, he’s been looking for his opportunities, so we’ll take him at a decent number here.
First FG Bet for April 7: Draymond Green (TBD)
