Underdog Fantasy NBA Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – March 31
Donovan Mitchell – Lower than 20.5 Points
Cleveland star Donovan Mitchell made his return on Friday after almost two weeks on the shelf, and it didn’t go well. He only scored 12 points on 13 shots against Philadelphia. So, naturally, I’m making a lower play on him for Sunday.
It’s not just Friday that saw Mitchell’s scoring be limited – he’s failed to get above this 20.5-point projection in four straight games and six of his last seven. Having to play the champs at altitude in Denver while still shaking off the rust doesn’t sound like a recipe for success.
Darius Garland – Lower than 15.5 Points
Let’s fade Mitchell’s backcourt mate, Darius Garland, tomorrow as well. His projected total of 15.5 points might seem too low considering he averages 18.3 ppg for the season, but I’m still taking the lower on it.
Garland has been a facilitator as of late, getting double-digit assists in three straight games. At the same time, he hasn’t been scoring himself, or even looking for his own shot, for that matter. He’s failed to score at least 16 points in a game in four straight and six of his last eight.
Devin Vassell – Higher than 22.5 Points
While rookie teammate Victor Wembanyama gets all the attention, Devin Vassell continues to excel in his third season in the NBA. And he’s been on quite a scoring tear as of late.
Vassell has scored at least 23 points in three straight games, four of five, and five of his last seven contests. Sunday’s opponent, the Golden State Warriors, only have an average defense this season and Vassell dropped 24 on them earlier this year.
