Indiana Pacers vs. Oklahoma City Thunder

With the team winning the tip getting 64.4% of the first buckets, we’d be crazy not to consider a large advantage when it comes to the tip. That’s exactly what we have here. Chet Holmgren is pulling down 64.1% of the first possessions for the Thunder. Meanwhile, Myles Turner is getting only 46.8%. That 17.3% should be a great first data point to lean to the Thunder.
Another data point that helps to point to the Thunder is the success on the first bucket. The Thunder sit just outside the top 10 in the league in scoring first field goals. The Pacers, on the other hand, rank 22nd and are a full 8.6% behind the Thunder.
Chet Holmgren has been one of the better first bucket getters for the Thunder and he’s getting the looks as of late. He took one of the first three shots last game, and that was actually a step back from the two prior. He took two of the first three in each of the games prior. Let’s expect one to fall here.

Despite their success on the season, the Timberwolves have not been stellar with the early game data. They rank 25th in the NBA on the first bucket stats and 16th on the tipoff. Those numbers don’t instill confidence, but they happen to have a great matchup.
The Clippers are 29th in the league in scoring the first bucket. While that might be terrible, it’s actually a spot ahead of their tip average, where they are dead last in the Association. If that’s not bad enough, the Clippers are 0-3 against the Timberwolves on the jump and just 1-2 with the first score.
With the bigs for the Timberwolves banged up, we have to look to some contrarian plays to get a winner here. Jaden McDaniels has been getting tons of early looks and tons of first buckets. We’ll ride the unconventional hot hand here.
