NBA First FG Props – March 11
Dallas Mavericks vs. Chicago Bulls
Tipoff – 8:00 pm EST
United Center – Chicago, Illinois
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The Mavericks are second in the NBA in scoring the first bucket. They’re getting that first score 62.5% of the time. The Bulls, on the other hand, are all the way down at 20th in the Association. Their 46.9% keeps them just barely out of the bottom third of the league.
The only thing that’s been holding the Mavericks back from possibly passing the Raptors for that top spot is their jumpball percentage. They rank 22nd in winning the jump. However, they are lucky when it comes to Monday’s action. They’re running into one of the few teams that are worse on the jump. The Bulls are 26th in the NBA and are 6.3% lower in their tip win percentage.
Kyrie Irving has been getting a lot of the Mavericks’ early action lately. He took both of their first two shots last game. He took one of the first three the game prior. While he is coming off another success, his first field goals seems to have come in bunches this year.
First FG Bet for March 11: Kyrie Irving (TBD)
Boston Celtics vs. Portland Trail Blazers
Tipoff – 10:30 pm EST
Moda Center – Portland, Oregon
Broadcast – NBA TV
These two teams are on the opposite end of the spectrum in terms of every indicator. The Celtics are 3rd in the NBA in first buckets at 61.9%. The Blazers are way down the list at 27th in the league. They’ve scored first just 39.7% of the time so far.
The Celtics are also 3rd in the league on the tip. However, they’ll be without Kristaps Porzingis for Monday’s tipoff. With that being said, their next man up is doing better than the Blazers. Al Horford is getting a respectable 57.1% of the jumps, whereas Deandre Ayton is only getting 52.7%. All signs point to the Celtics on this one.
Jayson Tatum has been the hottest hand for the Celtics. He has three out of the last six first scores for the team and four out of the last eight. Two of the others in that span belong to Porzingis, who will be out on Monday. With some other members of the starting five banged up, I like Tatum to put things on his own shoulders.
First FG Bet for March 11: Jayson Tatum (TBD)
