Underdog Fantasy NBA Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – March 9

Kawhi Leonard – Higher than 25.5 Points

Kawhi Leonard is on fire for the Los Angeles Clippers. While he’s averaging 24.1 ppg for the season, he’s scored 25.8 per game in March. Which is higher than 25.5, by my math.

What’s better, he’s topped this 25.5-point projection four times in his last five games, including scoring 28 against Houston last time out. And Saturday’s opponent, Chicago, has a mediocre defense. Let’s hope the good times keep rolling for Kawhi.

DeMar DeRozan – Higher than 24.5 Points

If Kawhi Leonard is on fire, what do you call what DeMar DeRozan is currently on? This 24.5-point mark set for his game tomorrow against the Clippers seems hilariously low.

DD has topped 24.5 points in three straight games and four of his last five. He averaged a robust 27.1 ppg in February and 26.8 ppg so far this month. And, surprisingly, the Clippers’ defense isn’t anything to write home about this season. Let’s hope Kawhi and DeMar have a good old-fashioned shootout tomorrow night.

Cade Cunningham – Higher than 22.5 Points

I normally fade Cade Cunningham in this space, but I’ve got to give the man some props this time around. Detroit’s best player (what a compliment that is) is averaging a career-high 22.4 ppg this season and his shooting is way better than it ever has been in his career.

As for this 22.5-point bar, he’s beaten it in two straight games and six of his last eight. He’ll be going up against Dallas and their weak defense tomorrow, who may also be without Luka Doncic and Dereck Lively.
