NBA First FG Props – March 7
Brooklyn Nets vs. Detroit Pistons

Little Caesars Arena – Detroit, Michigan

The numbers in this game are pretty close across the board. The Pistons have a 5.8% advantage on first field goals, whereas the Nets have a 8.8% lead on jumpball wins. So with the numbers that close, there’s no clear pick on a team here.
However, one of these teams enters the game white-hot on the early game. The Nets have won six straight tips as a team (all with jumper Nic Claxton). They also have won five of the last six first buckets in that time. The Pistons, meanwhile, have lost each of their last three jumps and scored just one first bucket in that span.
Each of the last two buckets that the Pistons have given up have been to big men on the inside. It just so happens that Nic Claxton has 13 first buckets on the year – which leads the NBA. He hasn’t had one in their last four games, so it’s time to get him back on the board here.
First FG Bet for March 7: Nic Claxton (+550)
San Antonio Spurs vs. Sacramento Kings
Tipoff – 10:00 pm EST
Golden 1 Center – Sacramento, California
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
While the other game was close, this game has stats that are quite wide in the same direction. The Spurs has a modest 5.7% lead when it comes to the first bucket. However, the big lead comes on the jump.
Domantas Sabonis continues to be one of the worst consistent jump guys in the league. He’s getting just 28.33% of all jumps. On the other hand, Victor Wembanyama is getting 57.9% of his jumps. With the winner of the jump getting roughly 65% of all first buckets, you have to lean Spurs here.
Wembanyama is the easy pick here as he’s been the the Spurs go-to in every facet of the game as of late. While I do typically like a contrarian play, he’s just had such a lion’s share as of late. He took three of their first four shots last game, and I think he scores first here again.
First FG Bet for March 7: Victor Wembanyama (TBD)
