Underdog Fantasy NBA Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – February 23
Brook Lopez – Higher than 3.0 1st Quarter Points
If you look at his season average for first quarter points, this may seem slightly low. He’s averaging 3.4 per game in the first quarter, which might already be enough for me to like this projection. However, when you look at how he was doing going into the break, these numbers are crazy low.
He had scored more than 3 points in seven of his last eight first quarters. In that eight game span, he averaged 5.5 per game in the first quarter. Minnesota’s inside presence might be solid, but Lopez scored 8 in the first against them on February 8th.
Jalen Williams – Higher than 20.5 Points
Jalen Williams has been one of the hottest hands for the Thunder. Going into the break, he had cleared this number in three of four games and by a wide margin. The closest he came to the mark in any of the three games came against Utah, where he put up 26.
Williams will have the added bonus of playing the Wizards here. Washington is dead last in points allowed per game at 124.0. They’ve been even worse than that lately, giving up 125.0 per game over the last three and 130 in their last game. Should be ample opportunities for Williams.
Deandre Ayton – Higher than 14.5 Points
Ayton is another one who was hot going into the break. He had gone over this projection in three of his last four, with the only exception being a game against the Timberwolves where he only played 20 minutes. Apart from that game, he averaged 22.3 over that span. Denver has a solid defense, but he did score 27 the last time he faced them.
