NBA Picks February 14, 2024
Washington Wizards vs. New Orleans Pelicans
Tipoff: 8:00 pm EST
Spread: Pelicans -12.5

I’ve talked a lot on the NBA Gambling Podcast that I only trust the Pelicans in the first half of games, and this is another situation. Pelicans are coming off a 4 game road trip, and also they played 8 of their last nine games on the road.
Since the 2018 season, the Pelicans, after a four-game or longer road trip, while playing that first game at home, are 7-9 ATS. Now, this season, they are 2-0 ATS but played bottom feeders of the league in the Hornets and Raptors.
However, more importantly, the Wizards have been one of the better teams this season, covering the spread on the road. The Wizards are 17-9-1 ATS on the road and in non-conference road games are 5-1 ATS.
They have covered six straight games on the road where they are double-digit underdogs, and over the last 10 road games, they are the 4th best defensive-rated team. So, I am going to take the ugly dog here in the Wizards to cover this spread against the Pelicans!

Los Angeles Lakers vs. Utah Jazz
Tipoff – 9:00 pm EST
Spread: -5.5
Total: 240.5
The Los Angeles Lakers head to Utah to take on the Jazz after beating the Pistons at home on Tuesday night. LeBron James will out for this game for the Lakers, however, I do expect the Lakers to have enough to put up points in this game.
Thus far this season, the Lakers on back-to-back situations are 2-7 ATS and 6-3 to the Over. Further, the Lakers are a perfect 5-0 to the Over when playing the second leg of a back-to-back on the road.
The Jazz have been one of the better against the spread teams at home. They are 18-7 ATS and 14-11 to the Over. Additionally, the Jazz have been the sixth-worst defensive-rated team in the NBA over the last five games. Lastly, the last six head-to-head meetings between the Jazz and Lakers has gone over the total.
Best Bet: Lakers/Jazz Over 240.5
