Underdog Fantasy NBA Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – February 14
Jalen Johnson – Higher than 15.5 Points
Johnson’s season numbers are right about at this projection, but are being weighed down by his early season stats. He’s seen a steady increase in both minutes and points from month-to-month since the beginning of the season. It’ll help that he’s up against the 24th ranked defense in the Hornets. He played Charlotte at the beginning of the season and scored 21 despite playing less than 30 minutes. He’s averaging 38.1 minutes this month.
Nikola Vucevic – Higher than 9.5 Rebounds
Playing the ‘Higher than 0.5 Double Doubles’ is basically the same thing here. The only difference is that you safeguard yourself from a weird day where Vucevic doesn’t reach double figures scoring.
Sure, the Cavaliers are one of the tougher teams to beat on the boards, but Vucevic is constantly at this number. He’s beat this projection in five of his last six games. In addition to that, he’s averaging 12.7 per game over the last three games.
Deni Avdija – Higher than 7.0 Rebounds
If you looked at the season stats for Avdija, the 6.4 rebounds per game might not be the most inspiring thing you see. However, since the Wizards traded Daniel Gafford to the Mavericks, it’s been a different story. In the three games since, Avdija has averaged 10.3 rebounds per game. The only reason it’s even that low was a 7 rebound game against Gafford in his new home. In that game Gafford was clearly motivated to fill out the stat sheet. I really would not be surprised to see another double-double out of him here.
