We get one of the NBA’s premier matchups on Thursday night – the Los Angeles Lakers vs the Boston Celtics. Never mind the fact that the Celtics are unstoppable at home and Anthony Davis and LeBron James are questionable for the game – we’re making picks for that game anyhow. NBA Picks February 1st
Los Angeles Lakers vs. Boston Celtics
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Spread: Celtics -10.5
Total: 240.0
I probably will be picking the Boston Celtics to cover here even if Davis and James are suiting up. Boston is 22-2, and – newsflash – the Los Angeles Lakers are a mediocre team. A mediocre team that gets lots of press attention, but a mediocre, flawed team, regardless. So Celtics -10.5 is the play, as is the Under. I don’t think this game is getting much higher than 233 or so, whether all the stars are playing or not.
Best Bet: Celtics -10.5 (-110); Lakers/Celtics Under 240.0 (-110)
Indiana Pacers vs. New York Knicks
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Spread: Knicks -3.0
Total: 241.0
This is another rivalry game seriously altered due to injuries. For the hometown New York Knicks, Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson are out for sure, and OG Anunoby is questionable. For the visiting Indiana Pacers, Tyrese Haliburton is questionable. Hard to make a call on this game with so much up in the air, but a call we must make. I think Jalen Brunson and the Knicks cover at Madison Square Garden, even if Haliburton plays. And this game is another Under for me as well.
Best Bet: Knicks -3.0 (-110); Pacers/Knicks Under 241.0 (-110)
