Underdog Fantasy NBA Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – January 20
Giannis Antetokoumpo – Lower than 31.5 Points
Giannis Antetokounmpo sat out Milwaukee’s game on Friday night due to a shoulder injury, but is expected back on Saturday to face the Detroit Pistons. The fact he isn’t 100% is one reason I’m taking lower than 31.5 points for him. Another is because he probably won’t have to score that many points – or play very many minutes – for the Bucks to get past the terrible Pistons. Plus, he’s only gone higher than 31.5 points once in his last four games.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander – Lower than 30.5 Points
I’m fading another superstar’s point total tomorrow night, taking lower than 30.5 points for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. SGA has only topped 30.5 points once in his last three games and he’s ‘only’ averaging 31.0 points per game this season. And tomorrow night he is on the road going up against the NBA’s top defense, the Minnesota Timberwolves. I think he scores 30 or less on Saturday.
Fred VanVleet – Higher than 17.5 Points
Fred VanVleet has been a streaky scorer for the Houston Rockets this season – he scored 24 points in his last game, but had eight and five in the two games before that. But he has topped 17.5 points in four of his last six games, and he’s averaging right around that mark on the season (17.2 ppg). But mostly I’m taking the higher than 17.5 points here for him because he’s playing against Utah on Saturday, who have one of the league’s worst defenses.
