Underdog Fantasy NBA Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – January 9
Jalen Duren – Higher than 13.5 Points
The Kings haven’t been great on defense this season and have been even worse lately. They rank in the bottom third of the league in points against. In the last three games, their opponents’ scoring average has soared to 132.7. While Sabonis has been playing better defense as of late, with Cunningham out, somebody has to score for the Pistons. There should be plenty of points to go around for Duren to come up with 14 of them.
Jalen Brunson – Higher than 27.5 Points
Speaking of teams that have been bad on defense as of late, the Blazers are giving up 130.7 per game over their last three. They’re a touch better than the Kings, but still rank 18th in the league in opponents’ points. Brunson has cleared this number in three straight and four of his last five. No reason to think that streak stops here.
Luka Doncic – Lower than 9.0 Rebounds
I hate taking Luka Doncic ‘Lower than’s because he has the ability to absolutely stuff a stat-sheet any time he steps on to the court. However, while he’s been giving us some gaudy point totals and some nice games dishing the ball, he just hasn’t been on the boards as of late. In fact, he hasn’t touched this projection since before Christmas.
