Two of the NBA’s bottom-feeders – the Charlotte Hornets and the Washington Wizards – are in action on Monday, and we’re going to take advantage of it by betting on their games. Come along for the ride. Here are my NBA picks for January 8th

NBA Picks January 8th
Chicago Bulls vs. Charlotte Hornets
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Spread: Bulls -6.5
Total: 216.5
The 8-25 Charlotte Hornets are really bad, especially with star LaMelo Ball on the sidelines still (they are 3-15 with Ball sitting out this season). The Chicago Bulls are banged up as well, but Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic are expected to suit up tomorrow. And these two teams just played in Chicago, with the Bulls winning by 13, so I think they cover on Monday. And I think both teams will score a lot more than in their last meeting, so I’m taking the Over.
Best Bet: Bulls -6.5 (-110), Bulls/Hornets Over (-110)
Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Washington Wizards
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Spread: Thunder -11.5
Total: 244.5
Which brings us to the Washington Wizards, who at 6-29 make the Hornets look like world-beaters. Their opponents tomorrow, the Oklahoma City Thunder, are actually on a skid, losing their first two games on their East Coast road trip. I think they right the ship tomorrow in the nation’s capital. And when the Thunder win, they tend to really, really win – they thump teams – so they’re covering this 11.5-point line. The total looks a few points too high for me, but not enough for me to play it.
Best Bet: Thunder -11.5 (-110)
