Underdog Fantasy NBA Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – January 5
Kristaps Porzingis – Higher than 22.5 Points
The Jazz are awful on defense – currently ranking 23rd in the league in points allowed. That automatically makes for a good day for any Celtics player you like. I like Porzingis more than most because we’re getting a favorable projection here. He’s exceded this mark in four of his last five games with his odd game against the Spurs being the outlier. Additionally, the Jazz also rank in the bottom third in points in the paint, which should bode well for Kristaps.
Jordan Poole – Lower than 16.5 Points
I’m not sure how they came up with this projection for Jordan Poole. He’s been dreadful in his last four games and hasn’t come close to touching this mark. It’s not for lack of trying, but rather for lack of making any of his shots. He’s shot 22.7% from three-point in that four gane span and only 37.2% from the field in general. You can bank on him breaking out of the slump here, but I wouldn’t advise it.
RJ Barrett – Higher than 7.5 Rebounds and Assists
Since coming to the Raptors, Barrett seems to be scoring a bit less. However, he does seem to be filling out the stat sheet in other ways. On the year, he’s averaging 4.5 rebounds, but has 8.0 per game since going north of the border. That number alone would get him over this projection, so with a dime or two he should handle this with ease.
