Underdog Fantasy NBA Daily Pick ‘Em Plays – January 2
DeMar DeRozan – Lower than 23.5 Points
DeMar DeRozan has scored 24 or more points in two of his last three games, but if you stretch it out longer it’s only two times in his last five games. And he’s only averaging 22.4 ppg this season. But, most importantly, he’s playing on the road tomorrow in Philadelphia, where Joel Embiid is expected back to anchor one of the NBA’s best defenses. You have to expect DD to have a below-average night against a top-five defense on the road.
Colby White – Lower than 22.5 Points
Let’s stick with fading the Chicago Bulls tomorrow. Colby White is another Bull projected to have an above-average night against Philly, which doesn’t make sense. White averages 17.7 points per game on the season, and hasn’t beaten this 22.5-point projection in six straight games and topped it only once in his last eight games. Lower it is, once again.
Jayson Tatum – Lower than 9 Rebounds
One last lower-than play to make it three for three. Jayson Tatum is averaging 8.4 rebounds per game this season – lower than nine, by my math. He hasn’t grabbed more than eight boards in his last seven games, and only topped this nine rebound projection twice in his last 10 contests. I like the Oklahoma City Thunder’s chances to keep him off the boards tomorrow night.
