Time is running out to make some more money in 2023. The NBA gives us six games to make a profit on on New Year’s Eve – I’ve found a couple I like the lines on. Here are my NBA picks for December 31st.

NBA Picks December 31st
Atlanta Hawks vs. Washington Wizards
Tipoff – 3:00 pm EST
Spread: Hawks -6.5
Total: 251.5
The Washington Wizards won a game! Unfortunately, it was their last game where I had their opponent, Brooklyn, picked to win by six points. Oops. Well if you can’t beat them, join them, so I’m taking the Wizards at home +6.5. Atlanta is not a very good team and not worth laying 6.5 points on, especially in a road game (although they are better on the road than at home this year). And while both teams don’t play any defense, I think the 251.5 total is too high, so Under it is.
Best Bet: Wizards +6.5 (-110), Hawks/Wizards Under 251.5 (-110)
Brooklyn Nets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Spread: Thunder -7.5
Total: 236.5
The Oklahoma City Thunder are a wagon this season, especially as of late. They’ve won three straight games, six of seven, and eight of 10. But they aren’t just winning – they are stomping teams. Their margin of victory in their last five wins: 26, nine, 23, 19, 19. And these were all against top teams, other than Memphis. I think they can cover 7.5 at home against Brooklyn. I’m slightly leaning to the Under, but not enough to play it.
Best Bet: Thunder -7.5 (-110)
