There are plenty of fun matchups to choose from among the NBA’s ten-game slate for Tuesday. I ended up going with a matchup of one of the best from the East against the best from the West, plus a crosstown rivalry game. Here are my NBA picks for December 20th.

NBA Picks December 20th
Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Philadelphia 76ers
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Spread: 76ers -3.5
Total: 225
Two of the league’s top teams go at it in the Wells Fargo Center tomorrow night, and I’m going with the visitors, the Minnesota Timberwolves, to prevail. Or to at least cover the spread for us. They are a very solid 9-4 on the road and are now healthy and running on all cylinders, winning three straight and nine of their last 10. Sure, Philly is really good as well, but they’ll be missing key contributor Nicolas Batum. I’ll take the league’s best defensive unit, plus 3.5 points.
Best Bet: Timberwolves +3.5 (-110)
New York Knicks vs. Brooklyn Nets
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Spread: Knicks -1
Total: 233.5
We also get the battle of Gotham tomorrow night, with the Brooklyn Nets welcoming crosstown rival the New York Knicks to Barclays Center. The Nets just got back from a disastrous West Coast trip, where they went 4-1. They are also still missing key reserve Lonnie Walker IV. Plus, the Knicks are just a better team than the Nets, so I’ll gladly take them -1 in this matchup. And let’s sprinkle a little on the Under – I don’t project this one getting out of the 220s.
