NBA First FG Props – November 13
Chicago Bulls vs. Milwaukee Bucks
Tipoff – 8:00 pm EST
Fiserv Forum – Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
The Bulls haven’t been great on the tip. In fact, Nikola Vucevic is pretty terrible when it comes to jump balls. He’s just 20% on the year. However, the Bulls are still managing a pretty solid first bucket rate at 5-5. Their defense helps, as is the fact that Vucevic is playing above-average defense in the paint this year, forcing teams to take lower percentage shots to kick off the game. You don’t have to tell that to the Bucks, who love a low-percentage shot, especially early in the game. Of the five tips they’ve won, they only turned two of those into first buckets.
Because of the defense and the Bucks rough early shooting, I’ll side with the Bulls here. Of the five first field goals they’ve scored, Zach LaVine has accounted for two of them. It might be the simplistic take, but I’ll get in on his number here.
First FG Bet for November 13: Zach LaVine (+1000)
Washington Wizards vs. Toronto Raptors
Tipoff – 7:30 pm EST
Scotiabank Arena – Toronto, Ontario
Broadcast – NBA League Pass
There’s maybe no game in the NBA this week that is easier to find the team for the first bucket. The Wizards have a paltry tip win percentage of 11.1% and only a slightly better 22.2% on the first bucket. The Raptors are the only team in the league left with a 100% first bucket percentage. They won’t carry that through the year, but the Wizards aren’t the team to stop them.
With so many first buckets on the year, the Raptors have a good sample size to go from. They have one guy rocking three first buckets, Pascal Siakam. They also have two with two first field goals, Scottie Barnes and Dennis Schroder. All of those players would be solid picks, but Barnes is the one leading the team in shots. He also has a lot of the early looks lately, so we’ll lean to him.
First FG Bet for November 13: Scottie Barnes (+550)
Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Sacramento Kings
Tipoff – 10:00 pm EST
Golden 1 Center – Sacramento, California
Broadcast – NBA TV
Both of these two squads have gone 5-4 on the year when it comes to first buckets. So if you’re looking for a way to lean, you have to look to the jumpballs. The Cavaliers are 5-4 on the jump as well. Meanwhile, the Kings have yet to win a single tipoff. As a result, we’re going to have to lean to Cleveland for a pick here.
I went with two of the higher frequency picks for my first two spots, but I’m going to zag where people are zigging for this one. Donovan Mitchell has 60% of the Cavaliers’ first buckets on the season, but I’m going to go with someone who hasn’t gotten any yet. Jarrett Allen has played just four games but has lots of early attempts off the jump. Let’s get him involved here.
First FG Bet for November 13: Jarrett Allen (+550)
