College Football Pick Of The Day (October 25th): NCAA Week 9 Total Pick

For today’s Week 9 college football pick of the day I’m looking at the Delaware and Western Kentucky game on Tuesday night. The Blue Hens average 28.3 points per game wihle allowing 28.4. Their passing attack ranks among the nation’s better units at 268 yards per game. Quarterback Nick Minicucci has thrown for 1,063 yards with 10 touchdowns. They are also coming off a 61-point game against Missouri State. There were 99 total points in that game.

Western Kentucky hasn’t been as efficient on offense, averaging just 21.3 points per game. However, their defense has been a huge liability, allowing 30.6 points per game. The Hilltoppers rank near the bottom of the FBS in red-zone defense, permitting scores on 95% of opponents’ red-zone drives. Both teams enter with leaky defenses.

The Hilltoppers have played against some stronger competition, such as Indiana. Scoring zero points in that game brings the points-per-game stat down. However, this Delaware team is allowing points to opponents. Delaware has posted combined totals of 99, 63, and 61 in three of its last four games. I expect a lot of points, and even though the total is slightly high, it doesn’t feel high enough.

The Pick: Over 55.5 Points
