Week 2 of NFL action is here, and the injuries are already piling up. Multiple starting quarterbacks are already ruled out for Sunday. Wide receivers dominate the injury report, and there are many other injuries affecting both your betting action and your fantasy football lineups. Let’s take a look around the league and find the NFL Injury impact for Week 2.
Green Light: Cleared to Play
Colts WR – Alec Pierce (heel)
Bengals QB – Joe Burrow (back)
Falcons QB – Cooper Rush (back)
Panthers WR – Jalen Coker (ankle)
Patriots RB – TreVeyon Henderson (ankle)
Bears RB – D’Andre Swift (ankle & knee)
Bears RB – Kyle Monangi (Hamstring)
These players have been cleared to play and are ready to go for Sunday’s games. Alec Pierce will be one to watch; he’s dealt with injury all offseason, and this Chiefs defense looked tough in Week 1. I’d avoid playing him if possible. Joe Burrow is one everyone will have their eyes on. He looked limited last week despite the Bengals win. This Texans defense didn’t look the part last week, but they are nasty. If they are getting to Burrow, this game could get ugly quickly. I’d avoid playing Burrow in fantasy if you have another option. I also love the Texans at -2.5 in this one.
Cooper Rush is back as the only real option for Atlanta this week. It’s a great rebound spot for Carolina. Bijan Robinson is always a great play. You can’t sit Drake London, but temper your expectations with him and Kyle Pitts again this week. Jalen Coker was huge for Carolina last week; he’s been cleared to play with an ankle injury in this game. He’s a fine start.
My guy TreVeon Henderson is getting his first action of the season. Stevenson will remain the #1 back, but if you’ve already faced Gibbs or Allen and need someone with game-breaking ability, Henderson always has massive upside. The Bears running back duo is back; they should be in a high-scoring game every week, and I don’t expect many limitations from either.
Yellow Light: Questionable
Chargers WR – Ladd McConkey (rib)
Saints WR – Chris Olave (hamstring)
Packers OT – Zach Bako-Bewele (knee)
Packers OG – Aaron Banks (knee)
Packers OLB – Lukas Van Ness (concussion)
Seahawks S – Nick Emmanwori (ankle/hip)
Falcons CB – AJ Terrell (shoulder)
Falcons OG – Chris Lindstrom (concussion)
Broncos RB – RJ Harvey (hamstring)
Browns CB – Tyson Campbell – (ankle)
Buccaneers WR – Jalen McMillian (knee)
49ers RB – Kaelon Black (groin)
Ravens OT – Ronnie Stanley (toe)
Ravens OG – John Simpson (groin)
Ravens ED – Trey Hendrickson (finger)
Chiefs DT – Chris Jones (calf)
Chiefs CB – Mansoor Delane (shoulder)
Rams WR – Puka Nacua (hip)
Giants CB – Deonte Banks (calf)
Ladd McConkey looks likely to play with a rib injury. The biggest question is how he will tolerate contact. If he’s out, Quienten Johnston gets a huge bump. If Laad plays, you’ll probably have to start him, but if you’ve got someone else to consider, it might not be a bad idea. Chris Olave looks likely to play, but he only missed one day of practice, so I’ll trust him. Alvin Kamara could be an interesting DFS play this week. He could be much more involved in the passing game.
All three Packers are listed as Questionable for this week. If the offensive linemen miss the game, that could be a huge blow for the Packers’ line. Might make it another tough game for MarShawn Lloyd. Seahawks safety Nick Emmanwori has practiced all week. With or without him, Seattle should control that game. Both Falcon players practiced all week, but they’ve much bigger issues anyways.
RJ Harvey seems to be a true questionable with the hamstring injury. If he misses time, it could be huge for either JK Dobbins and/or Jonah Coleman. Tyson Campbell was a midweek addition to the report; I don’t care if they bring prime Jim Brown back, bet the Buccaneers this week. Jalen McMillian for the Bucs practiced all week, but Tampa seems to be slow-playing his return. If they get up big early, they may save him.
Kaelon Black looked so good against the Rams last week. With him being limited in practice this week, brace yourself for a huge CMC game. All 3 Ravens returned to practice and are likely to play Sunday. Both Chiefs players practiced Friday as well and appear on track to play against the Colts. Puka Nacua sounds like a true game-time decision Monday Night. Unless there is more info prior to Sunday’s games, I’d either have someone else you can sub in Monday night, or start another player on Sunday. For the Giants Monday night, Banks seems unlikely to play.
Red Light: Out
Seahawks QB – Sam Darnold (glute)
Steelers WR – Michael Pittman Jr. (foot)
Ravens WR – Zay Flowers (hamstring)
Raiders TE – Brock Bowers (knee)
Vikings QB – Kyler Murray (concussion)
Texans WR – Nico Collins (hamstring)
Vikings WR – Jauan Jennings (personal)
Vikings RB – Jordan Mason (thumb, placed on IR)
Jets WR – Omar Cooper Jr. (ankle, placed on IR)
Jets S – Minkah Fitzpatrick (groin)
Falcons QB – Tua Tagovailoa (oblique)
Falcons QB – Michael Penix Jr. (knee)
Panthers DT – Bobby Brown III (back)
Commanders TE – Chig Okonkwo (hamstring)
Packers DT – Javon Hargrave (concussion)
Cowboys LB – DeMarvion Overshown (knee)
Cowboys S – Malik Hooker (forearm)
Eagles – OLB Jonathan Greenard (pec)
Commanders – LB Frankie Luvu (groin)
Texans OLB -Jadeveon Clowney (knee)
Cowboys CB – Paulson Adebo (knee, placed on IR)
Patriots CB – Carlton Davis (neck)
Quarterback Sam Darnold will be missed, but I fully expect the Seahawks to roll against Arizona. Michael Pittman is a significant loss for the Steelers as they face the Patriots this week. DK Metcalf and Darnell Washington should see increased targets. Zay Flowers is a big blow to the Ravens. Rashad Bateman and Mark Andrews should see increased work.
It’s no surprise Brock Bowers will miss another week. Kyler Murray remains out with his concussion; Carson Wentz gets the start. Nico Collins is a huge blow to the Texans as he is ruled out. Could this be the Boutte step-up game? I’d expect the biggest recipient to be David Montgomery on the ground. Jordan Mason hitting IR is huge if you drafted Aaron Jones. He’ll be a must-start in Mason’s absence.
Minkah Fitzpatrick didn’t play much last week in the Jets win; I’d expect the Jets to struggle with or without him. The Falcons quarterback room is just a dumpster fire. Bobby Brown being out could be good news for Bijan Robinson on the ground.
