This pits two players against each other statistically, and you’re just making a wager on who will be better.

2026 NFL Futures: Player Matchup Bets
Most Regular Season Passing Touchdowns: Drake Maye (-140) vs. Josh Allen (+110)
For our first NFL player matchup bets, we’ll pit two quarterbacks in the same division against each other. Drake Maye is the favorite at -140 for good reason. The Patriots quarterback enters Year 3 with a significantly upgraded supporting cast after New England added A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs. Maye threw 31 touchdown passes in 2025 while leading the Patriots to the Super Bowl.
He now operates behind a hopefully improved offensive line that added first-round tackle Caleb Lomu. Mike Vrabel’s staff wants to push the ball downfield, and Brown gives Maye a true number one target who wins contested catches.
Josh Allen (+110) remains an elite dual-threat quarterback. However, Buffalo’s new head coach, Joe Brady, will likely still lean on Allen’s legs. Allen hasn’t posted a 30+ touchdown game in the past couple of seasons because he so often takes the ball in himself. The Bills also face a tougher schedule and have a more balanced offensive approach.
Maye’s youth, new weapons, and likely higher pass volume give him the clearer path to more passing touchdowns. The Patriots’ offense should stay on schedule more often, creating extra red-zone opportunities. Maye will look to convert those through the air, rather than designed quarterback runs like Josh Allen gets. Maye’s combination of arm talent and scheme fit makes him the stronger play here.
Most Regular Season Rushing Touchdowns: David Montgomery (-120) vs. Kenneth Walker (-110)
This matchup is an intriguing one as both running backs find themselves on new teams. Houston signed Montgomery specifically to handle the dirty work near the goal line. The veteran back has scored 33 rushing touchdowns over the last three seasons by owning short-yardage and red-zone carries.
The Texans plan on featuring Montgomery as a primary back in scoring situations. It helps that Houston’s defense should keep games competitive enough for plenty of opportunities inside the 10-yard line.
Kenneth Walker also finds himself on a new team after he heads to Kansas City. He should inherit a larger role than he had sharing time with Zach Charbonnet in Seattle. Walker brings speed and vision. However, Andy Reid’s offense historically spreads rushing touchdowns among multiple backs and Patrick Mahomes.
Walker only had five rushing touchdowns last year despite heavy usage. Montgomery’s proven nose for the end zone and defined vulture role give him the edge. Houston’s indoor games and early-season schedule against softer run defenses should also further boost Montgomery’s chances. History of production in this exact role makes Montgomery the safer choice among this NFL player matchup bet.
Most Regular Season Receiving Yards: A.J. Brown (-125) vs. DeVonta Smith (-105)
This one is also an intriguing one to look at for our NFL player matchup bets as it pits two former teammates against each other. A.J. Brown now lines up in a Drake Maye-led offense after the trade from Philadelphia. Maye’s aggressive downfield style and Brown’s 50-50 ability create a natural fit.
Brown posted four straight 1,000-yard seasons before last year’s dip and should see a target increase in an offense that ranked ninth in neutral passing rate. The Patriots added complementary pieces around Brown, which should keep defenses from focusing solely on Brown.
DeVonta Smith steps into the WR1 role in Philadelphia after Browns’ departure. Smith remains precise and reliable, yet the Eagles are a run-heavy team. They still feature Saquon Barkley heavily and have plenty of other targets in Makai Lemon, Dontayvion Wicks, and Dallas Goedert. Jalen Hurts’ dual-threat style also limits overall passing volume
Brown’s size, contested catch ability, and pairing with a quarterback who loves to throw deep give him the higher yardage ceiling. Scheme and opportunity both favor Brown.
Most Regular Season Sacks: Trey Hendrickson (-150) vs. Maxx Crosby (+120)
We don’t want to leave the defense out of our NFL futures. Trey Hendrickson signed a four-year deal with Baltimore after posting 17.5 sacks in each of the previous two full seasons with the Bengals. Hendrickson generates pressure at an elite rate. He now joins a Ravens defense that creates plenty of favorable one-on-one opportunities. New head coach Jesse Minter deploys multiple fronts that should free Hendrickson to pin his ears back.
Maxx Crosby remains a complete player who plays every snap and defends the run at a high level for Las Vegas. Crosby posted 10 sacks last year and consistently ranks among the league’s most productive edges. However, Hendrickson’s pure pass-rush production and new supporting cast in Baltimore give him the higher sack potential.
The Ravens’ defensive scheme and Hendrickson’s track record for double-digit sack seasons make him the stronger side of this NFL player matchup bet.
