Cage Warriors Light Heavyweight Fight: Trevor Makengo vs Matthew O’Rourke
Card Start Time: Friday (6/19), 1:00pm EST (UFC Fight Pass)
The Friday offerings from Cage Warriors usually has fighters with shorter resumes. For our pick for next week’s Cage Warriors 206, we’ve highlighted a fight that features two career professional bouts between the fighters participating.
The fighter who has both of those professional fights is Trevor Makengo. The Irish fighter had an unsuccessful Cage Warriors debut back in September, but still has plenty of people excited about his prospects. He’s lanky with solid boxing and his long amateur career inspires confidence.
Despite the excitement for Makengo, I’m in on O’Rourke. While his physique is not exactly what you would seek out in a debuting fighter, he has exceptionally fast hands. His ability to move forward and work the body will be a huge issue for a lot of regional level light heavyweights. While his grappling defense is still a bit of a question mark, he shouldn’t face any of that here. Look for him to piece up Makengo on the feet and get to 1-0.
