New York Knicks vs Charlotte Hornets
Start Time – 7:00 PM EST
The only competitive game of the day should be this one, as two top teams in the Eastern Conference match up. Maybe calling the Hornets a top team is a stretch, but at 38-34 they are much improved (they won 19 last season).
And you know what – I’m taking the Hornets in this spot. Why? Because my numbers say so, and my numbers lead me to profit. My line is Charlotte -1, so the Hornets as a slight home dog is my play.

New Orleans Pelicans vs Detroit Pistons
Start Time – 7:00 PM EST
I keep accidentally including the New Orleans Pelicans in the group of tanking teams. They aren’t tanking since they don’t have their draft pick this season – they just aren’t very good at this basketball thing.
But are they better than a Cade Cunningham-less Detroit Pistons squad playing the second night of a back-to-back? Nope. My line is Detroit -6.5, so the Pistons as a home favorite is my play.
