Los Angeles Rams at Philadelphia Eagles Preview and Predictions

It’s a rematch of the NFL Divisional Round in last year’s playoffs. The Philadelphia Eagles dispatched the Los Angeles Rams on their way to winning Super Bowl LIX last season. This week, they’ll once again host Matthew Stafford and the Rams. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM ET on Fox. Let’s jump in and take a look at this Rams-Eagles preview and predictions.

The Rams enter this one a perfect 2-0 after wins over the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans to start the season. The Texans were a tough, low-scoring, hard-fought 14-9 game. The Titans allowed the Rams to flex their offensive muscles as they easily took care of business 33-19.

The Eagles picked up right where they left off. They took down the Dallas Cowboys on banner-raising night. Then, they quickly had a Super Bowl rematch in Week 2 in Kansas City. They went into Arrowhead, it wasn’t as easy as the Super Bowl for them, but they took care of business, and also stand at 2-0.

Los Angeles Rams at Philadelphia Eagles Preview and Predictions

Saquon Barkley Over 90.5 Rushing Yards (-115)

These two teams played twice last season. Once in November during the regular season, and again in the NFC Divisional round in the playoffs. Saquon Barkley ran for 406, that’s not a typo. 406 rushing yards Barkley had against this Rams defense in two games.

It would appear neither thing has changed much. The Rams gave up 60 yards to an aging Nick Chubb, who has an atrocious offensive line, in Week 1. In Week 2, Tony Pollard cleared this number, running for 92 yards. Barkley had a modest 60 yards in Week 1 against the Cowboys, but ran for 88 in Week 2 against the Chiefs. They’ll lean on him in this game, just like they did in both victories last season.

Philadelphia Eagles -3 (-115)

This is one of the toughest games of the week to pick. The Rams are a formidable opponent that has great coaching. I fully expect them to give it their all against the Super Bowl Champions. But you can’t ignore the fact that Philadelphia is the best team in football right now. They are on an eight-game winning streak dating back to last season.

They defeated the Rams 37-20 in the Week 12 matchup on the road, and then again at home in the playoffs 28-22. There’s nothing that makes me think that changes this week at home. Plus, all this talk about officiating the “Tush Push” harder is going to make this team rally around it and show everyone they don’t even need it.
