Kansas City Royals vs Detroit Tigers
Start Time: 7:10 PM EST
The top two teams in the American League Central division will be starting a three-game series tomorrow night in the Motor City, with the second-place Kansas City Royals in town to face the division’s top team, the Detroit Tigers. But, with the expanded playoff format, division series like this don’t quite carry the weight that they used to.
However, my play here is a player prop, so I don’t really care where in the standings these teams are or even who wins tomorrow night. I do care, however, about the Royals’ long-time slugger Salvador Perez. While Perez is having a slightly below-average season by his standards this year, he’s primed to have a big day at the plate tomorrow against the Tigers.
That’s because Casey Mize is pitching for Detroit tomorrow, and Perez feasts off of Mize’s pitching. In 32 career plate appearances, Perez has a slash of .433/.469/.633 against the righty. I expect the 35-year-old to bump those numbers up a bit more tomorrow night.
