Tomorrow is Saturday, so that means I have a winning UFC play for you. This week, we’ve got UFC 319 going down in Chicago’s United Center, and this is the incredible shrinking fight card, with three of the announced fights falling off over the past couple of days. For my best bet for Saturday, August 16th: UFC Predictions, I’ve got a winning play for the opening fight on the main card. Let’s go!

UFC 319: Du Plessis vs Chimaev
Start Time: Saturday – 6:30 PM EST – (ESPN+/ESPN/PPV)
One of the fights that fell through included my best bet, Bryan Battle. So I’m forced to go with another pick I’m certain of, but one whose odds are steeper than preferred.
That would be Japanese flyweight Kai Asakura to beat American Tim Elliott. Asakura is so talented that he was granted an immediate title shot in his UFC debut late last year, after a decorated career in his native land. Elliott, while a difficult matchup for anyone due to his janky style, represents a bounce-back fight for Asakura. The American is seven years older than Asakura and has been on the sidelines for almost two years.
The Japanese fighter is not just much younger, but he’s also on a different level than Elliott.
