Los Angeles Chargers at Cleveland Browns Preview and Predictions

Los Angeles Chargers at Cleveland Browns Preview and PredictionsThe Cleveland Browns looked like a brand new offense with Jameis Winston as the starting quarterback. The Browns pulled off an upset victory in Week 8 against the Ravens. Meanwhile, the Chargers look like a completely different team with John Harbaugh as the head coach. The Chargers will be in a battle for a playoff spot and every game has meaning to it. Below are my Chargers at Browns Preview and Predictions.

The big news for the Browns will be that Jameis Winston is the starting quarterback for the Browns for the foreseeable future. The offense looked much improved for the Browns scoring a season-high 29 points. Additionally, Nick Chubb returned for the Browns a few weeks ago and only seems to getting better with each rep.

Meanwhile, the Chargers have adapted John Harbaugh’s philosophy of football of running the ball and playing hard-nosed defense. The Chargers sit with a record of 4-3 and trying to keep pace in the playoff picture. The Browns do come into this game with plenty of injuries and have a big questionable tag on cornerback Denzel Ward. Additionally, the Chargers have questionable tags on Joey Bosa and Denzel Perryman on the defensive side.

Chargers at Browns Preview and Predictions

Best Bets

Despite finding success on offense in Week 8 against the Ravens, I expect this game to be more of a defensive-minded game. The Chargers come into this game with a 6-1 record to the Under. In fact, none of the Chargers games have seen 40 total points scored in their games. Additionally, since the 2021 season, the Under is 17-11-2 (61.8%) in Browns home games.

I expect both defenses to show up in this game and limit the opposing offenses. I would be surprised to see a run-heavy game plan for the Browns in this game after Chubb has two full games under his belt. Expect a low-scoring affair.

Best Bet: Chargers/Browns Under 42.5

Nick Chubb Over 12.5 Rush Attempts

Week over week, Chubb has seen an increase in workload for the Browns and I would expect that to increase in this game against the Chargers. Last week, Chubb ran 16 times against the Ravens. Thus far this season, opposing running backs are averaging 18 rush attempts per game. However, over the last two weeks, the Chargers are allowing running backs to average 5.5+ yards per carry. I like Chubb to be heavily involved in the offense this week.
