The guys called it a mileage play. Washington State opened with Davidson coming to Pullman, which they found strange, and joked that the team was looking at Stanford and Cal playing Carolina games and wanting in. Now Washington State is the one crossing the country for a first road game.
High Point is the other half of the story. One of the guys said watching them live has him convinced they are better than a season ago and a team that could win games in March. He pointed back to the tournament game where they nearly took down Arkansas.
Then came the furniture bit. High Point is the furniture capital of the United States, the guys said, and a rocking chair win was the prediction. They also noted they had cashed two of three High Point bets to open the season.
