College Football Pick Of The Day (October 23rd): NCAA Week 8 Spread Pick

For today’s Week 8 college football pick of the day I’m looking at number seven Ole Miss against number 19 Texas. The Rebels are 5-1 and head to Austin after a dominant 31-3 win over Missouri. They are averaging 37.5 points per game behind an efficient offense. Trinidad Chambliss has thrown for over 1600 yards, 14 touchdowns, and just four interceptions. The ground game has been good too, with Kewan Lacy.

Texas is 4-2, and they’ve dropped two straight close games. They’re currently 1-5 against the spread, failing to cover five straight. Arch Manning has been inconsistent, and so has the offense. The Longhorns’ defense has been solid, but they will be without their star edge rusher, Colin Simmons, who is out with an ankle injury. Running back Hollywood Smothers is also doubtful.

Texas holds a historical series edge, but Ole Miss is the more explosive team right now. They’re getting points against a struggling, injury-hit favorite. The Rebels’ balanced attack and superior quarterback play should keep this one tight.

The Pick: Ole Miss +3.5
