The Upset Factory: College Football Upset Parlay Week 8

Enjoy the weekend of upsets last week? We did too! Welcome to our weekly College Football Upset Parlay article as we look at Week 8 of the College Football season. We’ll certainly be rooting for a repeat of last week! Speaking of last week, holy upsets! We hit two of the three in our parlay, and were oh-so-close to hitting the parlay. But it’s another great reminder to bet each of these moneyline individually as well. It’s been a great season in this article picking underdogs, and our parlay hit is coming soon! North Carolina (again) and Kentucky both came through for us. Michigan State came so close, losing on a last-second field goal to pull it all off for us.

MYBOOKIE BONUS

Looking around CFB, it was a massive week with upset after upset, especially at the top of the board. As we look at the board this week, I think it’s best to temper expectations. I don’t see a lot of games with the potential to create chaos like we saw last week. That being said, there are always live dogs in College Football.

Mississippi State (+165)

Let’s kick things off in the SEC at Scott Field at Davis Wade Stadium in Starkville, Mississippi. The Mississippi State Bulldogs return home for the first time in three weeks to host the Oklahoma Sooners. It’s been a rough couple of weeks for the Bulldogs. Losing at home to Alabama and then getting blown out in Baton Rouge against the LSU Tigers after the bye.

Oklahoma did us well last week, losing to Kentucky at home and cashing the +210 dog for us. The reason we picked against them, other than how good Kentucky is. Is that the Sooners have proved they aren’t that good. We’ve seen them lose to a Michigan team that isn’t that good. New Mexico had them on the ropes at Memorial Stadium, where the Sooners escaped with a 14-6 victory. They were blown out by Georgia, and yes, recovered for that win over Texas. But at home as favorites last week showed who they truly are. Mississippi State needs a spot to rebound, and at home against this sooner team is a great place to do it.

Ole Miss (+135)

Sticking in the SEC for the next leg of our upset parlay here. Ole Miss heads down to Darrell K Royal Stadium in Austin, Texas, to take on the reeling Texas Longhorns. After barely escaping Ohio State and then Tennessee, the SEC punches being thrown at the Longhorns were just too much. Oklahoma took them down in the Red River Rivalry, then Florida went into their house and delivered another knockout blow. Now, even the Longhorns don’t know what to think of the quarterback spot. It appears Arch Manning will start this game, but it’s been reported he has a short leash, and he’s now splitting reps with the 1s with KJ Lacy Jr.

Ole Miss, on the other hand, is a team made up of Dawgs. Outside of an embarrassing loss at The Swamp to the Gators. Ole Miss has taken down LSU, Louisville when they were ranked, and dismantled Missouri last week. Trinidad Chambliss vs. Arch Manning? Easy choice here. Give me the Rebels as dogs.

West Virginia (+270)

I just can’t stay away from this West Virginia Mountaineers team. Their offense is explosive, and speaking of ballers, the duo of Michael Hawkins Jr. and Cam Cook have been running all over teams. They took down Cincinnati last week, and Virginia earlier this season. Almost every game is a shootout, and their offense is great at matching the other team.

TCU is still being a little more highly rated than I think they deserve. Outside of keeping it close with BYU, none of their games have been impressive. They rely on a good defense, but West Virginia is going to get theirs. This isn’t going to be a 10-7 game like TCU wants. They’ll have to try to keep up; good luck with that.

Mississippi State + Ole Miss + West Virginia (+2204)
