Game 1 of the WNBA Finals certainly didn’t disappoint on Saturday, with a back-and-forth affair that went down to the wire. The home team sent their fans home happy, and most importantly, we cashed our best bet. #4 Atlanta Dream vs #2 Golden State Valkyries
Start Time: 8:00 PM EST
Saturday’s Game 1 was the Gabby Williams Show, as the Golden State Valkyries star led all scorers with 26 points, tying for the fourth most by a player making their WNBA Finals debut. Lucky for the home side, she showed up, because no one else on the team cracked double digits in scoring (but that’s pretty much how the Valkyries have rolled all postseason long).
However, Golden State shut down the Atlanta Dream in the fourth quarter, outrebounded them all game, and forced their three main stars (Allisha Gray, Angel Reese, Ryne Howard) into poor shooting games. While you can’t count on all three putting up duds again tomorrow, you can count on the Valkyries’ tough D and the best home-court advantage in the league.
So all this is to say the Golden State is my pick once again. The Valkyries on the spread is my best bet to kick off the week.
