College Football Week 7 Preview & Picks Recap
The College Football Experience on the Sports Gambling Podcast Network continues its College Football Week 7 picks as Pick Dundee (@TheColbyD) and Ryan McIntyre (@Moneyline_Mac) bring in the Bet Detective to go through the whole card, from ECU at UAB to Nebraska at Oregon.
Can Indiana keep it close as a home dog against Ohio State? Does West Virginia finally snap the skid against Cincinnati? Is Pat Fitzgerald’s revenge game worth Michigan State plus 7.5? Can Houston handle Oklahoma State? And who makes the Lock and Dog card? We talk it all and more on this episode of The College Football Experience.
Weeknight Shots Before Saturday
Pick Dundee kicks off the slides with his East Carolina Pirates at UAB. The line has pushed to 5.5 in spots, but 4.5 was still available during the show. CJ Sullivan (@CJSullivan_) takes the other side and calls UAB live on the moneyline at home. His case is simple. ECU has fumbled something like 11 times and converts around 27% of its third downs. So the opening matchup turns into a battle right away. That fits a crew that spent last week battleshipping each other over this same school, and nobody is backing down this time either.
Then the board gets friendlier. All three guys triple lock Colorado State plus 14.5 at Texas State. Season-opening starter Hus Henry is doubtful, but Jim Mora’s group still gets plenty of cushion. Penn laying 6.5 at Franklin Field earns a triple lock too. Nobody likes laying a touchdown in the Ivy, so a number under seven is the selling point. Memphis follows, and that line climbed from 6.5 to 7.5 this week. Ryan McIntyre and Pick Dundee both bet the Tigers because Tulane is living off its name. CJ Sullivan also sides with Memphis, but he passes on a bet because it looks too easy.
The weekday favorite belongs to App State against Coastal Carolina. Pick Dundee has a lot of money on App State and calls it his favorite play of the week. He plans to be at the game, too. Malachi Singleton is questionable, but the Arkansas transfer threw for at least 291 in three of his four finished starts. CJ Sullivan takes Coastal with no bet, since he likes their quarterback more. Washington plus 3.5 at Purdue then becomes a triple lock. Purdue is coming off a big win over Minnesota, so CJ calls it a great setup spot and actually bets the Huskies.
Cignetti As A Home Dog Against Ryan Day
Ohio State lays 3.5 at Indiana in the noon window, and nobody on the panel wants to lay it. Ryan McIntyre bets Indiana because Cignetti as a home dog means getting the better coach. He expects a physical Big Ten fist fight and keeps fading Ryan Day in the big games. Pick Dundee has Ohio State as his national champion, yet he still takes the Hoosiers plus the points. That Illinois game is stuck in his head, and he thinks Indiana could win it outright. Meanwhile CJ Sullivan admits the line looks inflated but refuses to lock Indiana. Instead he plays the under, calling for one of those 24-21 games. He also mentions his 15-1 Jeremiah Smith Heisman ticket now sits at minus 220.
Back To The Blue Lot With West Virginia
The foxhole theme pays off in Morgantown. Pick Dundee takes West Virginia minus 1.5 against Cincinnati, and CJ Sullivan hates to say it but is in. Ryan McIntyre needs no convincing. He points to an 18-3 all-time record in the series and believes they haven’t lost to the Bearcats since ’08. So it becomes a triple lock and a contest play. The total is the only fight. Pick Dundee wants the over 63.5 because recent West Virginia games landed at 65, 66, 87 and 83 points. Mac swears by the under. He also promises no food until the losing streak is snapped, with a steak dinner waiting Saturday night.
Triple Locks Leading Our College Football Week 7 Picks
The early Saturday window is stacked with agreement. SMU laying 9.5 against Virginia is a triple lock, because the Cavaliers look one-dimensional and SMU is off a bye. LSU draws locks from Mac and CJ against Mississippi State. Kamario Taylor is questionable, and the 14.5 says he isn’t playing. Michigan State plus 7.5 against Northwestern gets a triple lock as Pat Fitzgerald faces his old program. Then Rutgers lands on the card as a moneyline triple lock at Maryland, with CJ asking for plus 150. Georgia State plus 11.5 against James Madison also draws a double lock, because Camden Brown has been sacked only twice all year.
Later in the day the same pattern holds. Temple laying 20.5 against Charlotte is a smash spot for CJ Sullivan. He calls Charlotte the worst team in the country after back-to-back 50-point losses. Auburn plus 21.5 at Georgia becomes a triple lock, since Georgia comes off Alabama and Auburn comes off a bye. Virginia Tech minus 10.5 against Georgia Tech is another triple lock, and Pick Dundee expects a 21-point win. North Carolina also gets a moneyline triple lock at Duke, with Nate Shepherd questionable. Then Penn State plus 6.5 at Michigan rounds it out, because Matt Campbell as a big dog is exactly where the guys want him.
Where The Booth Splits
Not everything is unanimous, and the battles are half the fun. Pick Dundee locks Kansas to win outright and end the 17-game Kansas State streak. CJ Sullivan and Ryan McIntyre both take K-State, partly because the line has come down three points. Florida plus 11.5 at Texas splits the room the same way. The Gators get the points from Dundee, who doesn’t think Texas is that good this year. But Mac calls for a 27-3 choke-out and sees a revenge game for Sark. UCLA minus 2.5 against Wisconsin is the loudest fight. CJ locks the Badgers on the moneyline and expects a Rose Bowl crowd that is 70/30 Wisconsin.
Air Force against UNLV produces another split, and the winner probably plays in the conference championship game. CJ and Mac lock Air Force after the Falcons threw one pass last week and still looked good. Pick Dundee goes with UNLV because he doesn’t think Air Force can throw enough to scare them. Missouri then gets a moneyline double lock against Ole Miss, while CJ locks the under instead. Baylor minus 6.5 is also a double lock against TCU. CJ adds the TCU team total under 21.5 as his favorite piece. Mac takes the Horned Frogs and the points in a rivalry that is always a mess.
Big Dogs And The Late Window
The late games keep the dogs coming. Florida State plus 21.5 at Miami is a triple lock, with a sprinkle on the first-half moneyline. CJ points out they jumped Alabama early before a lightning delay changed that game. Syracuse plus 14.5 gets the same treatment, because five-star Malachi Nelson could start. Houston minus 5.5 at Oklahoma State is a triple lock after the number moved up from 4.5. Notre Dame minus 10.5 at BYU is another, and the alt line at minus 16.5 is in play too. Then ULM plus 14.5 against LA Tech becomes a triple lock, since LA Tech comes off a wild rivalry comeback.
Oregon minus 7.5 against Nebraska closes the slate as a triple lock and one of the best plays on the card. CJ expects a boat race because Nebraska tends to fold after a big loss. Hawaii plus 15.5 against New Mexico draws a double lock from Pick Dundee and Ryan McIntyre. San Diego State also gets a double lock as a home dog, despite a long injury report. Finally, the drunk parlay arrives. Sac State and ULM go together on the first-half moneyline. Mac notes zero percent of the bet splits sit on either side, so the guys happily climb aboard.
The Mac In The Box Card And The Top Plays
The contest card comes together at the end. CJ Sullivan reads it back as West Virginia, Temple, Virginia Tech, Penn State, Michigan State, Houston and Oregon. Both dogs get the points, Penn State plus 6.5 and Michigan State plus 7.5. A clean sheet gets them to 7-0. Pick Dundee then lists his own top seven. Oregon leads, followed by Virginia Tech and North Carolina outright. Next come Toledo minus 6.5 over Eastern Michigan, Alabama against Tennessee, Penn State and UCLA. He also says App State belongs on the card if weekday games count. And CJ still calls Oregon State a smash play for his own account, even with the line inflated at 18.5.
