College Football Pick Of The Day (October 9th): NCAA Week 6 Total Pick

For today’s college football pick of the day, I’m looking at 20th-ranked Iowa on the road against Washington in Seattle. Kickoff is tonight, so get your bets in!

Iowa is 4-1 and just took its first loss of the season, falling 31-14 at home to Ohio State. Outside of that, the Hawkeyes’ defense has been stingy. They’re allowing just 12.6 points per game this season. The offense hasn’t exactly been flashy, and now they’re without starting quarterback Hank Brown. Jeremy Hecklinski is making his first career start. He looked good in clean-up duty against Ohio State. However, it will be different on the road.

Washington is 3-2 and coming off back-to-back losses to Minnesota and USC. Desmond Williams Jr. is the dynamic piece for the Huskies. He can make plays with his arm and legs, but the offense as a whole has struggled to sustain drives. Their third-down efficiency has not been great, and they’ve had very little consistency. Their defense is respectable, but this isn’t a team built to light up the scoreboard.

This matchup feels like a grind. Iowa’s elite defense should limit Washington. However, I don’t know if they can get enough going with a backup quarterback. Both teams rank better in defensive efficiency than offensive efficiency. It’s a low total, but I like it.

Pick: Under 41.5 points.
