College Football Pick Of The Day (October 7th): NCAA Week 6 Spread Pick
For today’s college football pick of the day, I’m looking at my Boise State Broncos on the road to take on Fresno State. It’s the Milk Can game, and the Broncos are laying 6.5 points on the road. Boise State is currently scoring 34.4 points per game and allowing just 20.6. Their offense is run-first, averaging 226.6 yards per game. Dylan Riley limped off the field against Utah State but, as of right now, is not out. Maddux Madsen has been solid too, throwing for 1,058 yards and 11 touchdowns. Their only loss was 34-27 at Oregon.
Fresno State’s defense is the reason this number is as short as it is. The Bulldogs allow 16.4 points per game and own a +8 turnover margin, which is third in the FBS. Jayden Mandal has been efficient, throwing for 1,034 yards, six touchdowns, and just one interception. After a 39-0 loss at USC, Fresno State beat Sacramento State, San Jose State, Rice, and Washington State. Not exactly a tough schedule. While playing an easier schedule, they’re still only converting 35.4 percent of third downs, while Boise is holding opponents to 25 percent.
Boise State leads the series 17-10, but Fresno has won three straight. They even won in Boise last year. At Fresno, Boise State is 6-6. Despite the fact that these two rivalries match up well against each other no matter which team is good and which is bad, my Broncos are fixing to put Fresno State in its place.
