After a UFC 332 fight card that grossly overperformed, the UFC (and us fans) hope for the same this weekend as they head back to the Meta APEX. Top middleweight contenders headline the fight card because the Meta APEX is all about the middleweights. For my MMA Prop Play of the Week: UFC Vegas 122, I’ve got a winner from the main card. MMA Prop Pick of the Week: UFC Vegas 122
UFC Fight Night: Allen vs Duncan (aka UFC Vegas 122)
Start Time: 5:00 PM EST
Prop plays on women fighters to win via decision are catnip to me, so I’m in on one again this weekend for UFC Vegas 122. The female fighters in play this week are Lupita Godinez and Ketlen Souza. And the Mexican-Canadian, Godinez, is the pick to win.
Souza has abysmal takedown defense (53%), and Godinez just so happens to be a world-class wrestler. One thing Godinez is not, however, is a world-class finisher, with only one knockout and two submission wins in 20 pro MMA fights. Loopy hasn’t won a fight inside the distance since 2023.
Godinez will ride her wrestling to a win, but it’ll take the full 15 minutes.
