Houston came into Week 4 at 0-3 after a road loss to the Colts, and after this one come road games against the Titans and the Jaguars, the second of those across the pond. On paper this is the lowly non-conference home game wedged between road trips. The guys didn’t buy that for a team with no wins. They pointed out that C.J. Stroud’s Texans almost never cover in the first three weeks of a season, and that last year’s team also opened 0-3 and still made the playoffs. The defense hasn’t looked as sharp as it did in past years, by their read, but they noted it still ranks 14th in DVOA.
Dallas is the other half of it. Houston’s offense has been bad, and the guys are trusting it to look better against the Cowboys the way just about every other offense has. They like attacking the middle of the field, and with a Dallas secondary they say struggles with tight ends, Dalton Schultz props looked live to them. They also flagged the Cowboys looking ahead to a Thursday night game, plus a Week 4 trend backing teams that start 0-3 straight up and 0-3 against the spread, small sample and all.
The one real argument was about Houston itself. Is this team worse than last year’s 0-3 version? One side said yes and held that view to the end of the segment. The other pointed out that this year’s losses came to the Bills, the Bengals and, on the road, the Colts, while last year’s team lost at home to the Bucs. Nobody fully conceded, and both still took the Texans.
