Navy (+145)

There are few things better than two service academies battling it out on the gridiron. We get that Saturday as the Midshipmen of the Navy head to Colorado Springs to face the Falcons of the Air Force. It’s a key piece of the battle for the Commander in Chief’s Trophy, which the Navy currently holds after winning the past two seasons. The winner of this game has gone on to win the CIC Trophy in 41 of the last 54 years. Navy has won the trophy 13 of the last 14 times they’ve defeated the Air Force. The road team in this battle has won three of the last five matchups.

Both teams are tied for second in the nation in rushing the ball, with an average of 337.5 yards per game on the ground each. It’ll be key for the Navy to win this battle of the trenches in order to be victorious Saturday. The Midshipmen have the edge on the defensive side in the trenches in this game. The two-quarterback approach generally means you don’t have a quarterback. But in Navy’s case, it should keep the Falcons off balance. If Navy controls the clock, they can easily win this game.

Missouri (+180)

“Mizzou has kind of been the kryptonite to Florida,” said The College Experience’s Colby Dant. Florida is just 2-4 when visiting Faurot Field in Columbia, Missouri, since the Tigers joined the SEC. Missouri’s Eli Drinkwitz has an impressive 35-9 record while the Tigers are at home in his tenure. Florida has been terrible against ranked opponents on the road, losing their last 13 straight road games against ranked teams. That’s not a direct reflection on Jon Sumrall’s team, but a systemic program issue.

The biggest key here is the spot both of these teams are in. Missouri is hungry; they are coming home licking their wounds after a close 31-24 loss on the road at Mississippi State. Florida is flying high. Ole Miss came into The Swamp last week fresh off beating down the LSU Tigers, and got beaten down of their own. Florida cruised to a 52-28 statement win. This week is a massive letdown spot for the Gators. Florida has struggled against the run and gives up chunk plays. If Missouri can capitalize on that at home behind a massive home-field advantage, they’ll win this game.

Purdue (+280)

The Purdue Boilermakers will be visiting the Illinois Fighting Illini this weekend in Champaign as the teams battle for the Cannon trophy. For this one, I’m leaving into the rivalry angle. Last year, Illinois blew out the Boilermakers on the road. But last time they matched up here in Champaign, it took overtime for Illinois to escape with a 50-49 win in an epic shootout. Prior to that, Purdue won seven of the last eight matchups in this rivalry. They have an experienced quarterback in Ryan Browne, and a lot of potential on offense. Illinois already parted ways with their defensive coordinator after just four games.

Purdue’s early season schedule has been tough. I wouldn’t hold their lack of wins against them. Their defensive unit hasn’t been good through the first few games, but this one will turn into a shootout. Underdogs in rivalry games always show up to play big time. Give me the Boilermakers to run through the Illini Saturday.

Navy + Missouri + Purdue (+2507)
