College Football has reached Week 4 already as the month of September nears its end. More and more of the lopsided games are over, as more and more conference games are upon us. This is where we’ll start to see the separation between teams, but also between players. Who really has it and can get it done on a bigger stage? Let’s take a look at this week’s CFB prop shop and find our favorite College Football player props for Week 4’s action.
The day kicks off with a big SEC battle between two blue bloods as the Longhorns of Texas head to Knoxville to face the Volunteers of Tennessee with a noon ET kickoff. Iowa and Michigan do battle in the Big Ten at the Big House. Ole Miss and Florida square off in The Swamp, Oklahoma and Georgia in Athens. Oregon at USC and Texas A&M at LSU keep the big game action rolling all day and night.
Desean Bishop Over 8.5 Receiving Yards (-110)
Let’s kick it off in the big game at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Volunteers are looking to do exactly what the Longhorns have already done this season. Pull off the big upset of the #1 team when they come into their house. Tennessee is ready for this “we’re back” moment, but they’ve got to play it smart. Protect the young freshman quarterback and put him in the best situations you can. That means getting the ball in the hands of your playmakers.
The Volunteers have two stud running backs, and establishing the ground game should be a priority. Once they do that, work the ball into those playmakers’ hands as much as possible. Bishop was dealing with a minor injury, but he’s off the report now and looks ready to go. The Junior running back had one catch each in both the Georgia Tech and Kennesaw State games. Both went for 15 yards. When they get him worked in the passing game, he shows up big. They’ll need that if they want to upset the Longhorns Saturday.
Jamal Rule 70.5 Rushing Yards (-121)
Nebraska seems to have found a diamond in the rough in this 6’ 0” 215 freshman running back. Through three games, the back is averaging 8.7 yards per carry with 329 yards and five touchdowns. Through the air, it’s only been four catches, but he’s gone for 82 yards on those four catches. An average of 20.5 yards. It goes to show how explosive Rule is. That was all against the likes of North Dakota, Bowling Green, and Ohio. Now, the Cornhuskers enter Big Ten play on the road in East Lansing, Michigan, as they take on the Michigan State Spartans.
The Huskers are 5.5-point favorites in this one, and establishing the running game is how they’ll win. Michigan State’s defense gave up 121 yards on the ground last week to Notre Dame’s Nolan James Jr. Braydon Bennett for Eastern Michigan was able to rush for 56 yards while Amereon Blue added another 40 for the Eagles. Connor Walendzak added 76 of his own for Toledo against the Spartans. They’ve allowed runners to do their thing, and Nebraska wants to run the ball Saturday afternoon.
Dilin Jones Over 90.5 Rushing Yards (-111)
Dilin Jones has been the man on the ground for the Tigers. Against Clemson a couple of weeks ago, Jones had 113 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns. The Sophomore from Laurel, Maryland, looked equally as good last week against a tough Ole Miss squad, even in a negative game script with the Tigers trailing. Jones racked up 106 yards on the ground and added another touchdown.
Texas A&M, who is reeling off an upset of their own, gave up 87 yards on the ground to CJ Baxter last weekend in their loss to Kentucky. Jason Patterson added another 58 yards on the ground for the Wildcats. The Sun Devils of Arizona State ran for 117 yards on the ground against them as well. Jones is easily the best back they’ve faced and should hit the century mark yet again.
Trinidad Chambliss Over 290.5 Passing Yards (-103)
Trinidad Chambliss is now the favorite +310) to win the Heisman Trophy. He’s started the season by picking up right where he left off last year and balling out. Last week in the Rebels upset win over LSU, Chambliss threw for 363 yards. Against the Louisville Cardinals a couple of weeks back, he tossed another 336 yards through the air. Last week the Auburn Tigers had no problem moving the ball all over this Gator defense. Byrum Brown passed for 271 yards as the Tigers hung 39 points on the Gators. Ole Miss is a live dog in this game, and it’ll be on the arm of Chambliss to get the job done and continue to strengthen that Heisman Trophy candidacy.
