Football Pick of the Day (September 20th): NFL Week 2 Spread Pick
Carolina Panthers vs Atlanta Falcons
1:00pm – Sunday – September 20th
We’re already 1-0 in Week 2 on the spread plays with the Bills cashing easy on Thursday. Now we’re looking to get in on another, this time with someone getting points.
I was impressed by the Falcons in Week 1. Up against the Steelers, they found ways to get off the field in tough situations and didn’t falter much on defense. They also had a bit of bad luck on that side of the ball with the Steelers starting with good field position thanks to Cooper Rush throwing a pair of picks. While it’ll likely be him under center again on Sunday, we’ll hope he has improved his chemistry with his receiving corps.
The other reason I like the Falcons here is that the Panthers didn’t look like they could stop a nosebleed in Week 1. Granted the Bears had their foot on the gas from whistle to whistle, but they gave up 291 on the ground and 263 in the air.
That boost to the offense of the Falcons – combined with their surprisingly good defense – is enough to like them in this spot.
