Best Bet for Saturday (May 5th): MLB Predictions

Boston Red Sox vs Baltimore Orioles

Start Time: 7:05 PM EST

My best bet comes from some American League East action, a division where all five teams still have legitimate hopes at seeing the postseason this year. However, the Baltimore Orioles, who host the Boston Red Sox tomorrow, would have to go on an epic run and leapfrog quite a few teams to make the playoffs this season.

And I don’t expect the Birds to help their cause on Saturday against the Sox, despite playing at home. Actually, the Orioles are going to lose tomorrow because they ARE playing at home. Baltimore is only 34-35 at Camden Yards this season heading into action on Friday night, while the Red Sox are a sparkling 41-31 playing away from Beantown, tied for the fourth-best away record in the majors.

With Boston ace Sonny Gray and his major-league-best 16 wins starting tomorrow in Charm City, the news just gets worse for Baltimore and their playoff hopes. Boston on the moneyline is my best bet for Saturday.
