Pittsburgh Pirates vs Milwaukee Brewers
Start Time: 7:40 PM EST
A busy MLB trade deadline is just about to conclude as these words are being typed, and the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Milwaukee Brewers both appear to have been buyers. But the moves won’t have any bearing on tomorrow’s matchup between the Central Division rivals.
The Brewers have now crept ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers for the title of best team in the majors, both in terms of win-loss record and advanced stat ratings (the Brewers are tied with the Dodgers there, rated 1.2 runs per game better than the “average” team). However, the Pirates have owned Milwaukee this season, winning five of their six meetings heading into Monday night’s action.
Yet, I still like Milwaukee tomorrow night. Pittsburgh has struggled lately, winning only three of their last 10 and nine of their last 20 (Milwaukee was 6-4 and 11-9 over those spans). And while the Pirates are a slightly above-average team on the road, the Brew Crew is one of the best teams at home, posting a 36-20 record.
Milwaukee on the moneyline is my best bet for Tuesday.
