MMA Regional Pick of the Week: Oktagon 92
Oktagon Light Heavyweight Fight: Will Fleury vs Makhmud Muradov
Card Start Time: Saturday (8/1), 12:00pm EST (Oktagon TV)
Oktagon MMA brings forth one of their most loaded cards of all time on Saturday. Both the main event and co-main event feature double champions as they look to defend one of their belts. The co-main event is heavyweight and light heavyweight champion, Will Fleury, looking to add another name to his mantle as he faced UFC veteran Makhmud Muradov.
Despite being a double champion, Fleury’s moneyline is still priced quite modestly. That is likely due to Muradov’s UFC history as well as his middleweight interim title. However, the fact that he is a middleweight is one of the reasons that I like Fleury so much here. He has been able to impose his will on some large heavyweights over his last few fights. Doing so with a much smaller opponent should be even easier. On top of that, how hard the Irishman hits is going to be a big difference from what Muradov has been dealing with.
In addition to the size and power, the short notice nature of this fight plays against Muradov. Fleury was originally slated to fight Daniel Skvor in a rematch of their 2024 fight. When he fell out, Muradov stepped in on just over a week’s notice. Without the full camp, it seems even less likely that the other obstacles can be overcome and Fleury will be too much.
