MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – July 30

Texas Rangers vs. Tampa Bay Rays

First Pitch – 12:10 pm EST
Tropicana Field – St. Petersburg, FL
Broadcast – MLB TV

Kicking off our NRFI plays on Thursday is another afternoon game, this time from Florida. Texas is first to the plate in this one and they rank in the bottom third of the league in terms of run scoring. A lot of that is due to their lack of power, which should help us with this NRFI. What should also help is that Shane McClanahan is on the bump. He carries a 3.09 ERA into action on Thursday and has allowed two or less runs in five of his last six starts. This game should help him to extend that streak even further.

The Rays are next to the plate and they are looking futile at the plate lately. Entering action on Wednesday, they had scored just five total runs in their last three games combined. While they won two of those, that bodes well for an NRFI spot. Nathan Eovaldi starting the game also bodes well for this spot. He’s been solid this year with an ERA just over 4.00. He also ranks in the top 20 of strikeouts in MLB. With as bad as the Rays have been at the plate, he should get us three quick outs.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for July 30: No (TBD)

New York Yankees vs. Chicago White Sox

First Pitch – 2:10 pm EST
Rate Field – Chicago, IL
Broadcast – MLB TV

Speaking of teams on ugly offensive skids, the Yankees have not looked themselves in the second half. They have scored just 38 runs in the 11 games since the All-Star break (3.45 runs per game). That’s amongst the worst in the majors over that span. Now they’ll have to deal with Sean Burke, who has been untouchable in July. Over four starts, he’s put up a 1.40 ERA with 35 strikeouts in just 25.2 innings. Earlier in the year he held the Yankees to one run over 7.1 innings and I have to imagine he’ll get a similar result here.

To close out the NRFI play, we have Ryan Weathers dealing. He, too, has a good history in this matchup. He faced the White Sox back in June and went 6.1 innings. In that start, he allowed only one run on three hits with eight strikeouts. He’s also coming off of another solid start with just one run allowed against the Phillies. The White Sox have been a solid hitting team all year, but I’m willing to trust that Weathers can get us out of the first.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for July 30: No (TBD)

Bonus Pick: Mariners/Dodgers NRFI (TBD)

Looking to put together a three-pick parlay? This extra play may just be the piece that you’re looking for. Throw it together with the other two to net a three-pick parlay.
