While the UFC continues to be the king when it comes to MMA and gambling, there is more MMA than ever to bet on now. Promotions all over the world as well as domestic ones are showing up in sportsbooks. The advantage here is that the data is usually quite a bit less sharp than when you’re making MMA predictions for the UFC. So we’ve decided to dig into some each week to get you started on your regional MMA journey. This week we head overseas for ONE Fight Night 45 from Bangkok, Thailand for our regional MMA pick.

MMA Regional Pick of the Week: ONE Fight Night 45
ONE Flyweight Fight: Bokang Masunyane vs Seung Chul Lee
Card Start Time: Friday (7/17), 9:00pm EST (Amazon Prime)
ONE Fight Nights have been loaded up with other martial arts as of late. Typically we get a slew of kickboxing, muay thai and grappling matches, but this Friday they are really bringing the MMA action. There are five fights on this card and perhaps none has a better value than this flyweight fight.
Bokang Masunyane has been underrated for the bulk of his career due to his stature. He stands at just 5’1″ and usually is at a massive reach disadvantage with everyone he fights. However, you aren’t going to find many flyweights that bring the power that he does in the striking and grappling. He throws bombs from his toes and uses that as a way to close the distance. Additionally, his wrestling is technically sounds to go along with the power he generates. Once he gets a hold of you, he is glued on and continues to return you to the mat.
That’s bad news for the favorite Lee for a couple reasons. The first is that Lee isn’t particularly good at establishing range. As a result, the much shorter fight should be able to fight his way in. Secondly, Lee prefers to wrestle in most of his fights. However, I have a hard time imagining him getting in on the legs of Masunyane.
For those reasons, I think the South African prospect is set to score the upset and cash us some plus-money.
