MMA Regional Pick of the Week: Oktagon 91
Oktagon Middleweight Fight: Patrik Kincl vs Hojat Khajevand
Card Start Time: Saturday (7/11), 12:00pm EST (Oktagon TV)
While there is a middleweight title fight on the top of the card, it’s the middleweight featured fight that we’re focused on. A former middleweight champion, Patrik Kincl, takes on a member of the 2025 middleweight Tipsport Gamechanger tournament, Hojat Khajevand, who stepped in as an alternate.
You have to give the advantage to Kincl here. He has shown in the past that, while he’s known for his hands, he has the ability to wrestle with the best of them. His title fights with Karlos Vémola and Piotr Wawrzyniak show that he can make the grappling work on the offensive and defensive sides. Additionally, his cardio is an absolute weapon in a three-round fight or a five-rounder.
And that’s where I expect Khajevand to struggle – the pace. In many of his recent fights, Khajevand has been able to turn it into a grind. In doing so, he wore his opponents down, but also wore down a bit himself. Kincl brings a different kind of pace with the way he strikes and gets off the cage. There’s an equal chance that Khajevand gets tagged early in this one or starts to fall apart in the second. Either way, the moneyline on the former champion should cash with ease.
