While the UFC continues to be the king when it comes to MMA and gambling, there is more MMA than ever to bet on now. MMA Regional Pick of the Week: LFA 232
LFA Lightweight Fight: Nathan Ghareeb vs Vinicius Cenci
Card Start Time: Friday (5/15), 6:30pm EST (VICE TV)
In the co-main event, local favorite Nathan Ghareeb takes on Brazilian submission specialist Vinicius Cenci. After leaving PFL, Cenci is looking for a big win that can put him back in a major promotion. Riding a four-fight win streak, Ghareeb is looking for that signature win that will get the phone to ring.
In this fight, Ghareeb should hold all the cards. On the feet, he is a much more talented striker. He has great footwork and the ability to cut off his opponent’s movement. Additionally, he showed in his last fight that he can rip the legs and end a fight that way as well. Cenci is a much taller fighter, but the reach is not all that much better. In addition, he doesn’t fight particularly long.
In addition to the striking, Ghareeb should be the one who dictates if we see any ground work. He’s got a solid grappling base and good takedown defense. Cenci, while sharp with his jiu jitsu, has sub-optimal wrestling. Look for Ghareeb to force Cenci to stand and bang – which can only end poorly for the Brazilian.
