MMA Same Game Parlay of the Week: UFC Winnipeg
UFC Winnipeg Bantamweight Fight: John Castaneda vs Mark Vologdin
Start Time: 5:00pm EST (Paramount+)
The prelims in Winnipeg feature a fight with a template that the UFC seems to love – up and down UFC veteran takes on exciting graduate from Dana White’s Contender Series. John “Sexy Mexi” Castaneda has racked up a 4-4 record inside the octagon and is riding a two-fight losing streak. He’ll get Mark Vologdin, who may have had the most exciting fight in Contender Series history.
We’ll start of this parlay with the grappling of Castaneda. While he sometimes falls in love with his hands, the bread and butter for Castaneda is his wrestling. He’s scored at least one takedown in five straight fights and is averaging 2.2 per fight in that time. Vologdin was taken down by Juan Adrian Martinetti three times on Contender Series, so it’s not wild to think the veteran can get a couple here.
We’ll pair that with the pace and hands of the Russian. In his last fight, over 15 minutes, Vologdin threw 225 significant strikes. He landed 117 and that was while being taken down a number of times. We can get a reasonable number for him at 55 significant strikes. Being that Castaneda has been hit that many times in four of his last five fights, I think that’s a reasonable parlay piece.
We’ll roll those two pieces together and come out with a beautiful number for Saturday’s action.
