Best Bet For Sunday (April 19th): NHL Playoffs Predictions
Utah Mammoth vs Vegas Golden Knights
Start Time: 10:00 PM EST
We’re headed to an unlikely spot for a hockey game – the desert of Nevada – for a Western Conference First Round matchup between two of the NHL’s newest franchises, the Utah Mammoth and the Vegas Golden Knights. The Mammoth are taking a page out of the Golden Knights’ book, being a successful team right out of the gate, making the playoffs in only their second season.
However, I expect Utah’s playoff debut to be a losing effort, at least in Game 1. When you dive into the stats, these are fairly evenly matched teams in all areas. But I’m giving the edge to Vegas since they are on home ice, they’ve got the experience (many of their key players won the Stanley Cup with the team in 2023), and they enter the playoffs on a roll, winning three straight and seven of eight (Utah, meanwhile, went 1-3 to wrap up the regular season).
