We have a short slate of games on tap for Week 15 in the college football world, but there’s a good reason for that – championship time is upon us! And I’m in championship form with my bets, sweeping Week 14 and putting my ROI up to 7% for the season. For my college football predictions and best bets for the conference championships, we’re making stops at Bridgeforth Stadium in Harrisonburg, Virginia, AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. Let’s hit the gridiron!
College Football Predictions & Best Bets for The Conference Championships
Troy Trojans vs #25 James Madison Dukes
Start Time: 7:00 PM EST (Friday)
We start things off in Virginia for the Sun Belt Championship Game, perhaps not the most glamorous of title games, but we do have a nationally ranked team competiting in it. On the strength of their 11-1 record (8-0 in the Sun Belt), the James Madison Dukes have resided in the lower regions of the rankings for the past month.
Respect to the 8-4 (6-2) Troy Trojans for topping the Sun Belt West standings and making it into this championship game, but they are overmatched here. The Dukes are 10th in the nation in both offense and defense – no Sun Belt team can compete with that.
HOWEVER, my line for this game is ‘only’ James Madison -17, so I’m going to go with the play that has been successful for me this season, and I’m taking a big underdog to cover. Troy plus the points is the play.
Best Bet: Troy +23.5 (-112)
#11 BYU COugars vs #4 Texas Tech Raiders
Start Time: 12:00 PM EST
Saturday kicks off with the Big 12 Championship, going down in AT&T Stadium in Arlington. So while it won’t technically be a home game for the Texas Tech Raiders, you’d have to imagine they’ll have more backers in the stands than the BYU Cougars will.
These two teams have already played this season, when the Raiders had the home-field advantage, in Week 10. And the Raiders rolled, beating the Cougars 29-7.
Is this the part where I’m going to say HOWEVER again, you’re wondering? Yes, it is. HOWEVER, despite getting blasted by Texas Tech a few weeks ago, I still like BYU on the spread on Saturday.
The Texas Tech loss was BYU’s only defeat this season – they’ve otherwise been blowing out the competition. Do I think they can get their revenge and beat the Raiders? Perhaps. But one thing I do know for sure is my line is Texas Tech -8.5, which makes the Cougars plus the points my play.
Best Bet: BYU +12.5 (+101)
#2 Indiana Hoosiers vs #1 Ohio State Buckeyes
Start Time: 8:00 PM EST
To our main event we go, and you couldn’t book a better main event than this. The top two teams in the country, the Indiana Hoosiers and the Ohio State Buckeyes, both undefeated, are battling it out for the Big Ten Championship.
The Buckeyes have gone wire to wire as the top-ranked team in the country, as no team has gotten even close to beating them this season. I’ve spent several weeks this season fading the Hoosiers, much to my detriment, as they, like the Buckeyes, have steamrolled every foe put in front of them.
Indiana has the better offense, Ohio State the slightly better defense, plus a slightly better strength of schedule. Now, for my third HOWEVER, I’m fading the Hoosiers no more. I’ve learned my lesson.
My line is Indiana -1.5, so go Hoosiers!
Best Bet: Indiana +4.5 (-105)
College Football Overall Record: 14-11 (56%)
Profit (based on $100/bet): $182.17
Return on Investment: 7%
